Background:
The Arrow Class Ruanbout, introduced in 2396, is probably the best runabout built in Starfleet history. Designed in response to the Klingon BaHpuv class armoured courier, the Arrow is smaller, lighter, more powerful, and better armed and shielded. Its excellent hull, warp and impulse engines give the Arrow speed to match its long-range firepower.
The warp system used on the Arrow Class is one of the finest packages used on a Starfleet designed runabout, consisting of the excellent and reliable Class 9/O Warp Drive System with a pair of Type 6C Nacelles and a Type J Plasma Injector System allowing the runabout class to achieve maximum warp for a considerable period of time.
In open space there are few smaller craft that can match the Arrow, but in the constricted star systems or planetary atmospheres the Arrow can not take full advantage of its superiority. Arrow variants included the formidable Arrow Class Attack Runabout ("Hunters Arrow"), which replaces its passenger carrying capability with increased weapons capabilities.
