Background:
T'Lana was born to a human mother, Mary Taylor, and a Vulcan father, Sorak. Her father was killed aboard a transport ship while her mother was pregnant. Her mother left Vulcan and returned to her homeland, Ireland, before she was born. Upon her birth, her mother gave her the name Arielle Taylor and she was raised as a human. However, when she was 12 her aunt, a Vulcan high priestess, contacted her mother and asked to have the girl sent back to Vulcan for teaching in the ways of her father's people. Arielle traveled to Vulcan where her aunt gave her the name T'Lana. Because she was raised with humans, she was allowed to let her emotions run free and had a lot of trouble adjusting to the restrictive emotional life on Vulcan. As soon as she turned 18 she applied for Starfleet Academy and was accepted. Because of her upbringing on Earth, she allows her emotions to show more often than most other people of Vulcan heritage.
