She made her way to the nearest lift and called it to the bridge taking the brief time to breathe. In and out, in and out she kept telling herself as she stepped through the doors as they opened and taking in the sight in front of her. Not seeing anyone other than the last few engineers at first glance she stepped over to her console and brought it online.

With a few more taps to the console she logged out, hopping off of her seat she made her way to the lift as well. Once inside she called it to Sickbay and waited.

As the lift came to a stop she stepped off and headed back to her station. Offering a nod to the Ops officer. With a sigh she sat back and waited, a bit bored, and wishing she had a good book to read.

The turbolift came to a stop, revealing the bridge to him. He smiled as he stepped onto the bridge, he truly enjoyed this bridge design. It was one of the cleanest and neatest he had the pleasure of working on. He moved along the rear of the bridge, eying all of the stations.
He paused as he moved along the port side of the bridge, a slight frown crossing his face. He heard rumors about the Velari people; but he didn't realize they appeared THAT young. He moved over to a replicator, and tapped at the controls. Once the PADD he requested appeared, he carried it over to the helm station. "Lieutenant Lancaster?" Well, that was dumb, of course that was who she was. Who else would she be? "I'm Lieutenant Commander Locke; Chief Engineer. Perhaps I could be of service to you?"

"That's who they tell me I am..." Sarcasm? Janie? Never! "Be of service? How do you mean?"

He caught himself smirking at her response. "Well..." He motioned to her chair. "I had them install a smaller chair; but they didn't tell me how small it needed to be. I can have a new one replicated and installed in a matter of hours." He tapped at the PADD, pulling up her biometric information. "That, and I'd like to welcome you aboard."

She caught the smirk and grinned, "That'd be nice, though will it be comfortable for whoever uses it while I'm off duty? I'm not used to being on ships where everything is...well big. By the time we are the size of human adults we've been retired for quite sometime."

He frowned slightly. "I didn't think of that." And he was being completely honest with that. He really didn't consider it. He ran his free hand through his hair, eying the PADD and considering the options. He looked up to her, grinning. "I have an idea. Give me a few hours to work it out. If it works, I think it might be perfect."

With a nod she smiled up at him, seemed she was always looking up at people around here. "Sure...I'm sure I'll be, well, right here..."

He nodded a few times, before standing up. He made his way to the turbolift; the doors parted moments earlier than normal, and the lift acknowledged it's destination without him speaking. As the lift made its way lower into the ship, he spoke softly; as he spoke, data scrolled across the PADD. Yes, this would be a great solution.

She watched the exchange between the engineer and the helm officer. It was going to take a bit of getting used to, having a helm officer well older than herself, yet looking not much older than her nephew. She continued running scans just to test everything out before their launch.

As the engineering crew came in to replace her chair she simply stepped aside letting them work silently. Once it was done she offered a simple, "Thank You" before retaking her seat.

T'Plevak stepped out of the turbolift and onto the bridge allowing a group of engineers by her so they could board the turbo lift. She scanned the room looking for the commanding officer. She spotted a Trill who seemed to be the highest ranking officer in the room and approached her. "Ensign T'Plevak, reporting for duty." She handed the padd that contained all her assignment information to her.

With a nod she accepted the padd and looked it over. "Welcome aboard Ensign, feel free to take your post and do whatever you need to do to be ready for launch."

The songs in her head kept her body in subtle motion, as though beneath her skin, she were dancing. She didn't hum aloud as she heard the music quite clearly. Her work was an extention, the readings, the panels, the colors, all just extentions of the lovely patterns of the universe.
She had inspected the bridge, and approved the layout. The captain sat alone, as it should be. No chairs provided for bureaucrats, doctors, counselors, or any riff-raff that might want a piece of the captain.
On this bridge, the captain was king, and the single chair, his throne.
Good for security. More easily defensible.
She could do this job from her office, but just as easily, she could do it from here. Unless she started getting too many incoming questions.
A frown tugged her brows together. There WAS a backlog starting to build up. She fired off several messages, and delegated 3/4ths of the work appropriately.
Her smile returned, and the music continued.
